Elmvale Acres and Riverview Park
These two neighbourhoods sit between the Rideau River to the west, St. Laurent to the east, Walkley Road to the south and Industrial Ave to the north. What makes them so special? Both are family-oriented, community-focused pockets surrounding the Ottawa Hospital General Campus – so a super easy commute to downtown by bicycle, bus or car!
Good schools make these neighbourhoods desirable to growing families, the two notable secondary schools being Canterbury and Hillcrest Public schools. The area also has Catholic, French Catholic and a private French school to choose from. The houses here are predominantly 1950’s built, many by well-known developer Robert Campeau. Over time, people have renovated or added onto these smaller homes, which remain attractive to a wide range of age groups, including retirees. Shopping centres include Trainyards on the north end of Riverview Park, Elmvale Acres to the east and Herongate Mall to the south. Small shopping plazas dot the residential streets so you’re never too far from a cup of coffee! The Canterbury Community Centre is a hub for activities, including swimming and hockey, and both areas have numerous parks and playgrounds. Check out weekend Cricket games at Lynda Lane Park or enjoy the evading pool at Balena Park!
