Carlington

Located beside the Experimental Farm at Fisher Avenue, Carlington sits between Carling Avenue to the north and the National Capital Commission (NCC) bike path to the south, west to Clyde Avenue. It’s truly one of Ottawa’s hidden gems! Some of Carlington was developed for WW II returning war veterans, and many of those homes remain today. We like the generous lot sizes here and of course its great proximity to so many of Ottawa’s popular shopping areas and transit, which makes it an especially great community for first time buyers. Outdoor enthusiasts appreciate the NCC bike path system that passes alongside Carlington. Taking it through the Experimental Farm offers a direct route to downtown without ever having to ride on public streets. Amenities are available on Merivale Road, which runs right through the middle of Carlington, the area boasts two community centres, and transit options are abundant.

In the middle of the community, which boasts an active Community Association, is Carlington Park. One of many neighbourhood parks, but certainly the largest, its main feature is Carlington Hill, formerly a ski hill, and now one of Ottawa’s premier tobogganing sites! Add to that a mountain biking course at the top, five baseball diamonds with bleachers and scoreboard, and the J.A. Dulude Arena for hockey! The Carlington Woods offers 22 hectares of Environmentally Protected land for nature walks and solitude in the middle of the city.
