Alta Vista

Bordered by Riverside and Smyth to the north, Bank Street to the west, Heron Road to the south and St. Laurent to the east, Alta Vista is the closest “suburb” to downtown and encapsulates a range of neighbourhoods within its boundaries. At the center of the area is the Ottawa Hospital, General campus including CHEO.

Located beside the Experimental Farm at Fisher Avenue, Carlington sits between Carling Avenue to the north and the National Capital Commission (NCC) bike path to the south, west to Clyde Avenue. It’s truly one of Ottawa’s hidden gems!

In the heart of it all is the unique and vibrant Centretown. Emcompassing a relatively large geographic area, Centretown is comprised of a mixtures of residential, commercial and at the very north end, offices and government buildings.

Elmvale Acres and Riverview Park

These two neighbourhoods sit between the Rideau River to the west, St. Laurent to the east, Walkley Road to the south and Industrial Ave to the north. What makes them so special? Both are family-oriented, community-focused pockets surrounding the Ottawa Hospital General Campus – so a super easy commute to downtown by bicycle, bus or car!

Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle is dynamic and highly desirable quadrant of Centretown. It is bordered by Elgin Street to the west, the Courthouse to the north and the Queensway to the north. Little Italy

Just west of the downtown core is the eclectic and popular “Little Italy.” The neighbourhood is bordered by Albert Street to the north, Carling Avenue to the south and extends about a block west of Preston where it intersects with Hintonburg. Its geography makes it an ideal location for commuters.

New Edinburgh/Lindenlea

Located just east of Ottawa’s Lowertown (Byward Market) across the Rideau River, this small and largely affluent community retains plenty of Ottawa’s early history in its real estate. While Lindenlea is at the south end along the main shopping strip, Beechwood Avenue, New Edinburgh is the area north to the Ottawa River. Its uneven eastern border is Rockcliffe Park’s Springfield Road and Maple Lane.

Old Ottawa East

The neighbourhood just east of the canal is called Old Ottawa East. This area is bordered by the Rideau Canal to the north and west, and the Rideau River which wraps around part of this community along its eastern and southern borders.

Old Ottawa South

Heading south on Bank Street, as you go over the Rideau Canal, you will find Old Ottawa South. This vibrant community is rich in spirit and activity. The area is bordered by the Rideau Canal to the north, Carleton University to the West and the Rideau River to the east and south.

Just west of Hintonburg, between Holland Avenue and Island Park Drive, Wellington Village is a fantastic place to live and play. This area offers everything for the growing family, with quality schools, parks and quiet tree-lined streets.

One of the most sought after neighbourhoods in Ottawa, Westboro offers a “village” atmosphere to it’s residents. Nestled between Island Park Drive and Golden Avenue, and bordered by the Ottawa River to the north and Carling Avenue to the south, this area is filled with hip shops, cafes and restaurants.
