Pandemic Revelations: How to Prepare your Home for the Next Lockdown
It’s true we had very little time to prepare for that first lockdown in March, 2020. But if there is ever another event, I now know exactly how to keep my home ready for me to be in it a lot! Your own preparations maybe different, but I thought I would share my own insights.
First, I’m keeping my house clean and organized. There is nothing worse to me than spending time in chaos. We have enough things causing anxiety. My home shouldn’t feel like one of them! The challenge? Kids and messy cohabitants! To solve that one, I’m relegating my son to the basement and never going down there.
Second, I’m keeping a fresh can of each paint colour in my house. When boredom sets in and home renovation supplies are low in-store, at least I’ll have something to do to brighten up my space! Besides, who knows when moving wall hangings might be a temptation and there are holes to patch!
Third, I’m never waiting until the last minute to order critical medical supplies ever again! Delivery companies couldn’t keep up with all the online orders and delays were the norm.
Forth, I’m keeping my house in a good state of repair at all times! You never know when a trade won’t be allowed to work or you can’t welcome people in your front door. “There is no time like the present” is my new mantra. This one applies to investment properties, too.
Fifth, my internet is always working, and working well. And when it’s not, I’m tending to that immediately!
Finally, and this is NOT home-specific, friends are more important than ever. When we can’t see them in person, we still have them virtually. If nothing else, this pandemic has taught me that relationships are key to getting through challenging and uncertain times. Cherish them.
