2024 Dogsledding Charity Challenge for YSB Ottawa

Love0

We want to extend an incredible thank you to everyone who supported us on our arctic dog sledding journey in Lapland, Sweden! Through the amazing donations of many of you, we raised a total of $12,441.70 for Ottawa’s Youth Services Bureau’s (YSB) shelter and housing programs. This is enough to house 3 youth for a year and give them access to all the programs YSB offers to help them get back on their feet during what can often be a difficult transition at a pinnacle phase in their lives. We are absolutely thrilled that with your support we exceeded our initial goal of 10,000 for this important community organization – THANK YOU!!!!

We captured some fantastic VIDEO FOOTAGE on our adventure and would like to share it with you! It’s best on a big screen so cast it up to your TV or watch on the computer to get an intimate feel of dog sledding in the arctic (see below)!

HDogsledding_YSBere is a recap of our adventure:

Jen and Ami guided their own team of huskies around 180kms through the snow covered terrain of Swedish Lapland – all to raise money for Ottawa’s Youth Services Bureau (YSB).

This challenge required them to learn to manage and care for their team of 4 dogs each, and live without electricity, running water or toilet facilities. They had to muck in with wilderness living; help with the cooking, cleaning, collecting water, and sleeping on reindeer skins in a traditional Sami tee pee.

The adventure began in Kiruna, Sweden’s northernmost city, situated 145kms north of the Arctic Circle. The region is home to the Sami people. They guided their dogs through the frozen arctic terrain and had the unique opportunity to spot (and eat!) reindeer and moose. They were also lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. Just an incredible adventure!
