Whether you have just settled into a new neighbourhood, are exploring the options for a move, or have your own reasons for getting more involved in your community, it can be difficult to know where best to turn first. Your neighbourhood community center is a great place to start. Enroll in one of the programs and start chatting with your neighbours, or introduce yourself to the staff there. Community associations often meet at the community center and can also be a great way to find out about the issues affecting the community. Likewise, local newspapers advertise the times and locations for community meetings and cover stories of importance. The classifieds advertise businesses that may call the area home or offer services to local residents. Whatever you chose to do, it’s an opportunity to become part of the fabric of your community.
